In 2012, the University of Wisconsin–Madison launched the Visiting International Student Program (VISP) as a way for people from around the world to experience the exceptional quality of our university and the beauty of Madison without having to be in a full degree program or part of a direct exchange.
The first VISP coordinator, Anna Seidel-Quast was hired to start building the program under the direction of now Associate Dean & director of ACSSS, Martin Rouse. Our staff and offerings have grown so much since that time. You can read more about all of our credit and noncredit VISP staff on our Contact Us page.
Over time we expanded and launched a suite of noncredit programs to complement our credit offerings. To date we’ve hosted more than 2,750 former VISPers from 40 countries through our credit and noncredit offerings.
Ten Years of VISP – September 2022
In recognition of our 10-year anniversary, we are inviting all former participants—their families and guests—back to the UW–Madison campus for a celebration, provided that it’s safe to do so at that time.
Former VISPers are invited to relive and share their time at UW–Madison—reunite with old friends, visit familiar places and discover new ones. We are tentatively planning an itinerary of events that includes a formal dinner and reception, networking, social events, outdoor activities, boat rides on Lake Mendota, and possibly even a Badger football game!
