The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Dairy Science is one of the world’s most highly regarded departments and is renowned for its excellence in teaching, research, and outreach. The Dairy Science department has long been recognized as a world-class discovery powerhouse because of the innovative research of its faculty, staff and students. Students are immersed in the latest knowledge and receive hands-on training so that they are prepared to face any real-world problem, which enables them to be highly competitive in the job market or in their own enterprises.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Dairy Science Department welcomes visiting international students for full-time study during any of UW-Madison’s academic terms. Choose from a variety of quality courses to create your optimal learning experience. Students studying Dairy Science go on to become successful professionals in many different areas including research/academics, industry, and production.
STUDENT SUPPORT
From the time you apply to the end of your stay, the VISP staff is here to assist you. As a VISP participant, you have complete access to all of UW-Madison’s academic and student support services, such as libraries, computer labs, clubs, and sports facilities. You may also participate in VISP-sponsored social and cultural events. Upon completion of the Dairy Science thematic track, you will receive an official UW-Madison transcript.
PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
Participants must meet the VISP eligibility criteria for admission into this program. This Thematic Track admits students at the Undergraduate, Graduate, or Dissertator level.
AVAILABLE TERMS
Students can participate in the fall and/or spring semester as well as in the summer term.
ACADEMICS & COURSE OFFERINGS
Faculty of the Dairy Science department will advise students on their course selection and program plan. Concentrations areas include:
- Feeding and Nutrition
- Breeding and Genetics
- Physiology (reproduction, lactation, and milk quality)
- Management (business, financial, and environmental)
COST OF ATTENDANCE
Estimated cost of attendance information is available on the VISP website. The Dairy Science VISP program can offer scholarships to qualified students. Please contact VISP@dcs.wisc.edu if you are interested in learning more.
